During Mobile World Congress, T-Mobile USA parent Deutsche Telekom has confirmed that it will roll out NFC based payment services across select subsidiaries this year and next, including T-Mobile USA.
More specific to T-Mobile USA, the carrier will roll out NFC services later this year, with the full payment system following in 2012 through its previously-announced ISIS joint venture with AT&T and Verizon. Parent Deutsche Telekom also announced that it expects NFC phones in 2011 from Apple, Samsung in Q2, and RIM & LG in Q3. T-Mobile USA currently carries the Samsung Nexus S with NFC support, but has not enabled the hardware as of yet for use with its planned ISIS NFC venture.
T-Mobile’s Mobile Wallet will also support loyalty programs, such as supermarket discount cards, and sport multiple security features, including protection against phone theft or loss.
