Motorola Xoom To Launch Without Flash, Support in Spring Update

Verizon Motorola XoomVerizon’s dedicated page for the Motorola Xoom Android Honeycomb tablet has confirmed via the fine print that it will not launch without Flash support, instead being deployed in a future update later this Spring. The lack of initial support for Flash content suggests that Motorola is working on deploying Flash 10.2 with Stage Video hardware video acceleration, which is supported on the Xoom via its Tegra 2 chipset.

The Xoom is currently available for pre-order via Best Buy with the official launch set for this Thursday, February 24th for $799.99 without additional subsidies and features a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor 10.1-inch capacitive display at 1280800 resolution, while 4G LTE connectivity will be made available as an update in Q2. Other specs include a 5.0 megapixel camera, 720p video recording and 1080p video playback, 802.11n WiFi radio, Bluetooth 2.1, and 32GB of on-board storage. The battery is rated to be capable of 10 hours of video playback on a single charge.
