Anthony Catterson, chief executive of online retailer Expansys, says pricing will be key in 2011, opening doors for online retailers and ambitious Chinese manufacturers
“Austerity measures, tax increases, job losses, interest rate rises and falling house prices will hit consumer spending, but online retailers should benefit – the perception remains they offer better value.
“But everybody in the industry will have to work harder as customer expectations in quality and value rise.
“Product evolution will focus on voice, video and social media.
“I expect to see the rise of Eastern brands, following in the steps of Samsung, LG and HTC.
“Firms with enormous R&D capabilities, like Huawei and ZTE, will be the ones to watch.”
