Phones 4u sells its first Facebook phone

Facebook-focused HTC ChaCha offers dedicated button for sharing to social network

Phones 4u will this week start selling the HTC Cha Cha, the first Facebook-centric phone to be offered by the retailer.

The ChaCha has a dedicated Facebook sharing button, which allows users to quickly share photos, locations, status updates and tracks from the handset’s music player.

The device also has a built in Facebook chat widget, and can sync Facebook with a user’s calender and address book.

The ChaCha will cost 300 on prepay, or comes free with a 20 a month contract. Phones 4u said it expects the device to be a hit with younger customers.

The ChaCha has a qwerty hard keyboard and a 2.6 inch touch screen, as well as a 5MP camera and a front-facing VGA camera.

HTC EMEA operations and sales VP Jon French said: “This model is completely different from any other handset we’ve developed and has been designed specifically for those who share their lives through Facebook as second nature.

“It’s a great fit for Phones 4u, offering its audience a great blend of smartphone performance with the enhanced ability to chat or share their thoughts, photos and location even more easily than before.”
