Companies will pool resources to explore and research the next generation of fixed line, wireless and mobile services
BT and Chinese equipment manufacturer and network solutions provider ZTE have agreed a partnership to explore the next generation of unified communications services.
Under the agreement the two companies will use their respective experience to research new possibilities in fixed line, wireless and mobile telecommunications services.
Speaking about the agreement BT Group chief innovation officer Clive Selley said the combined knowledge of the two organisations would put both companies in a good position going forward.
“We’ve been very impressed with the knowledge and sophistication of ZTE’s team and, by combining our complementary strengths and expertise on a range of research projects, we expect this partnership to be very fruitful for both ourselves and our respective customers,” Selley said.
ZTE executive vice president and chief technology officer Xie Daxiong said it was a “privilege” to work with BT.
“BT’s UK and global experience and resources are a great match for ZTE’s leadership in key fixed, wireless and device technologies, and we look forward to a close and effective research relationship,” Daxiong said.
