It appears that the Google guys have moves swiftly to boot out some 21 free Android apps from the Android Market stating said apps were malware apps aiming to get root access to the user’s smartphone.
According to an article over on Mashable, Google was notified by Android Police and moved quickly to remove the offending Android apps although some have already been downloaded 50,000 times by Android users.
Apparently the apps were all pirated copies of popular utilities and games and when downloaded the apps root the handset using a method such as “rageagainstthecage” and then use an APK to steal device ad user data.
The offending Android apps apparently made by Myournet are…Falling Down – Super History Eraser – Photo Editor – Super Guitar Solo – Hot Sexy Videos – Super Ringtone Maker – _Falldown – Chess – Super Sex Positions – Falling Ball Dodge – Scientific Calculator - Hilton Sex Sound – Dice Roller – Screaming Sexy Japanese Girls – APP Uninstaller – _PewPew – Advanced Currency Converter – – Funny Paint – – and Spider Man.
The Mashable guys suggest that if you have downloaded any of the above apps it might be prudent to take your smartphone to your carrier for a replacement as you wont be sure that your user and device data hasn’t been compromised.
