Twin gongs for Vodafone, 20:20 Mobile, and Lebara at the 2011 Mobile News Awards hosted by celebrity comedian Jason Manford
Vodafone, 20:20 Mobile and Lebara were all double winners at the sold-out Mobile News Awards 2011, held at The London Hilton on Park Lane last night (March 17).
Network operator Vodafone won awards for Innovative Product (Sure Signal) and Vertical Market Solutions (M2M solution for British Gas smart meters).
Distributor 20:20 Mobile broke a two-year run of bad luck by landing the prizes for Hardware Distributor and Innovative Distributor. HSC hit the jackpot with the Airtime Distributor award.
And ethnic market MVNO Lebara Mobile walked away with the gongs for Mobile Virtual Network Operator and Customer Service.
O2 won the Network prize for its entry submission and highest number of Mobile News Mystery Caller Points. And Orange was again Large Retailer for the highest average Mystery Shop score. Mobilefun.co.uk won the Online Retailer award.
Samsung was voted Manufacturer of 2010 with HTC’s Desire winning HTC the prize for Innovative Handset.
Best Buy Europe’s win for Innovative Service (Walk Out Working) ensured the Carphone Warehouse Group didn’t go away empty-handed.
And while Nokia scored ‘null pointe’ in the handset category, it did pull off a win for Environmental Enterprise, in recognition of the environment-friendly measures taken with production and packaging.
Another new award, Business Solutions Provider, was given to unified communications organisation Outsourcery. Uplands added B2B Dealer to its creaking shelf of Mobile News Awards trophies from past years.
UTL hit a home-run with the Service & Repair trophy, while the award for Industry Advance went to Google for the incredible performance of Android in 2010.
And in a live audience voted Everything Everywhere chief executive officer Tom Alexander was selected as the Industry Personality of the Year.
