Fujitsu today announced it will complement its lineup in the Raku-Raku Phone series with a soft mint green-colored mobile phone featuring patterns of pale-green clovers and elegant lace. The Raku-Raku Phone series, manufactured by Fujitsu, has proven a huge hit among its main target audience of senior citizen users since the F671i mobile phone model made its debut in September 2001.

Fujitsu aims to even further boost the level of satisfaction of this well-received product lineup of gold, dark silver, pink and red mobile phones, among an even greater number of customers.

1. Support for i-mode

“Raku-Raku Site Button”

By simply pressing the “Raku-Raku Site Button,” users can easily access the Raku-Raku i-menu, which provides users with useful information such as the news, weather, and transit details.

“Raku-Raku Japan Reports”

A special website for Raku-Raku Phone users, available under the Raku-Raku i-menu for no monthly fee(1). It features quality articles on subjects of interest to senior citizens, such as travel and cuisine, updated daily.

News window as digital photo frame(2)

Placing the Raku-Raku Phone 7 in its holder activates the news window, which automatically displays a slideshow of photos stored on the mobile phone, acting as a digital photo frame.

2. 8.1-megapixel “Smart Camera”

Smile detector

This feature trips the shutter automatically when it detects that the subjects are smiling.

Automatic scene recognition

The camera automatically recognizes different scenes, such as landscapes, portraits, night scenes, and close-up shots, and changes shooting modes accordingly. It can also recognize QR (quick response) codes automatically.

High-sensitivity mode equivalent to ISO 12,800(3)

With a maximum sensitivity equivalent to ISO 12,800, the camera can shoot in the dark and produce bright photos without blurring.

Finger-in-frame alarm

The camera automatically detects if the user’s finger is obscuring the lens, and immediately notifies the user by displaying an alert message on the screen.

Tracking focus

The tracking focus captures subjects in motion and is best-suited for photographing children and pets.

3. Water resistance

 

Water-resistant (IPX5/IPX8(4)) and dust-resistant (IP5X(5)) features enable users to rinse the mobile phone with water when necessary.

The Raku-Raku Phone 7 is loaded with comprehensive Japanese, Japanese-English, and English-Japanese electronic dictionaries. Useful information on almost any subject is a quick search away.

5. Easy-to-use features

One-touch opening

The clamshell mobile phone can be opened easily with the touch of a button. When the mobile phone is ringing, pressing the button can open the phone while automatically answering it.

Voice input activation

To learn more about how to use the Raku-Raku Phone 7, search functions are divided into categories such as “contents,” “search,” and “keywords.” The mobile phone also is equipped with a “speak and search” function that allows users to utter simple commands into the phone to conduct a variety of searches.

6. Easy-to-read features

3″ transflective “all-round” wide VGA LCD display

Compared to its predecessor, the new mobile phone’s display is larger and has almost four times the pixel count, making it sharper and easier to read. The high resolution means that text is crisp, with detailed letterforms. In addition, a built-in optical sensor measures ambient light and automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness to suit surrounding conditions.

Universal Design font

The font used on this mobile phone is a refinement over its predecessor, and preserves space between characters and around diacritic marks for noticeably improved readability.

“Naoko Takahashi’s Walking Clinic”

This application analyzes the user’s stride and gives advice accordingly, based on a method developed by Japanese Olympic gold medalist and former marathon runner, Ms. Naoko Takahashi. The application also connects to i Bodymo to display routes and workout statistics.

“ETGA Swing Lesson” for Raku-Raku Phone

This application monitors and measures golf-swing movements when the Raku-Raku Phone 7 is clipped to the user’s waist. Using this data, the mobile phone provides a diagnosis of the swing and advice for improvement based on the principles developed by professional golfer, Mr. Tadashi Ezure.

Undo function

If the user accidentally deletes texts while typing, the undo function allows the user to go back a step to restore it.
